Marwan Chaar is the co-founder and director of FuGu Energy - a company focused on sustainable energy development in the Gulf. Marwan has been involved in different sectors of the energy industry for the past 5 years.

Previously Marwan worked at DC Energy - an energy trading firm based in Washington, DC. At DC Energy he was responsible for the creation and management of a portfolio of electricity contracts. His group was responsible for annual profits of over $30 million.

Marwan also worked at Ausra - a solar thermal technology firm where he was responsible for shaping the company's strategy for the Middle East. His experience in renewable energy was furthered through his involvement in projects for KAUST - where he created a model for solar thermal power projects in the Kingdom - and for Masdar - where he developed a feasibility study for Abu Dhabi's solar roll out plan.

Most recently, Marwan worked with Sharjah-based Crescent Petroleum where he was involved with a variety of activities including managing the implementation of an automated invoicing project; on-site training at one of the largest gas development projects in Northern Iraq; and, on the finance team, analyzing new business opportunities.

Marwan holds a BS, with High Honors, in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin; an MS with a focus on Energy Systems from Stanford University; and, an MBA from Harvard Business School with a focus on entrepreneurship. He was raised in Sharjah and still calls it his home.
