Saudi Arabia constitutes the biggest economy and population of the GCC Nations. Within the last years it had an average population growth of 3.1% and its annual GDP growth has been forecasted as 5.2%. In March 2011 King Abdullah announced spending US$ 65.000 mio on 500,000 new houses during the next years. The current construction projects in KSA are worth over US$ 600.000 mio and there are extensive plans for urban development including projects like Jazan Economic City, King Abdullah Economic City, Prince Abdul Aziz bin Mousaed Economic City and Knowledge Economic City. Not to speak of the ongoing projects in Riyadh such as Princess Noora University and King Abdullah Bin AbdulAziz Financial District.
At this point, Saudi Arabia is looking for costefficient, sustainable and durable construction technology. Modern, factory-made drymix
mortars are first in line where intelligent building materials can be employed. Drymix mortars play a decisive role when it comes to thermal insulation, reduction of jobsite traffic as well as durable, low-maintenance construction.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by its Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization SASO has undertaken tremendous
efforts to increase the sophistication and quality of materials used in Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi Arabia Conference on Sustainable Building Materials will present the potentials of drymix mortar technology and show how
its performance will improve the overall building quality in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia . The conference is geared towards choice Legislators from Government Bodies of KSA and other GCC Nations, Construction Professionals from Developers, Consultants
and Contractors, University scholars and Researchers, Manufacturers of Sustainable Building Materials and Suppliers to the Construction
Materials Industry.
